Chicago, IL, United States, 03/30/2005 – Recently, LegalFish.com has expanded its service into the Detroit metro area. LegalFish offers anyone who needs a lawyer a free and confidential means of finding the right one. In 2005, LegalFish’s nationwide attorney member base has increased by 26%, as of March. The number of cases and legal service requests posted this year has increased by 400%. In early 2004, a new allocation management office was opened in San Francisco to handle the influx of member attorney applications.
Finding an attorney with LegalFish is simple, easy, and free. Once a case or legal issue is posted on the website, it is reviewed by the LegalFish staff and automatically distributed to member attorneys with matching criteria and qualifications who can offer legal assistance. With direct links to detailed attorney profiles and contact information, consumers will have the discretion and knowledge necessary to make an informed decision when hiring the right lawyer for their needs. Additionally, LegalFish will work with those select clients to secure capital financing to pay for legal services with its LifeLine Funding Program.
For lawyers, LegalFish provides a paid membership service. To minimize lawyer competition, new member attorneys are only accepted on a strict "on demand" allocation model -- based primarily on how many cases are being posted in a specific area. Before a case is sent to a lawyer, it is pre-screened by a LegalFish staff attorney for validity and merit. “Attorneys spend hours every week sifting through cases that don’t go anywhere. We save them time and overhead cost by pre-screening cases for them, essentially acting as part of a firm's client intake process,” says Anish Shah, a company founder and its General Counsel, who occasionally pre-screens promising cases himself.
Further plans for 2005 include an international venture into Canada and the United Kingdom and creating a lawyer-to-lawyer referral system for attorney members. LegalFish.com's attorney-client matching service was first launched in 2003.
