Foothill Ranch, CA, United States, 12/04/2008 - Surgeons, medical manufacturers and investors will gather this week for the North American Neuromodulation Society Meeting to learn about advances in treatment technology and the connecting and sealing components that make these advances possible.

The NANS meeting, which runs from December 4th-7th, 2008 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, will showcase products from Bal Seal Engineering, Inc., a California-based company with a 20-year history of supplying worldwide medical device and electronics OEMs with custom-engineered connectors and seals. Bal Seal will open its exhibit at 7:00 am on the 5th, alongside major medical manufacturers such as ANS, Boston Scientific and Medtronic.
According to Bal Seal Marketing Director Bill Nissim, the company is attending the NANS meeting - and other similar events - in an effort to identify and engage “innovation partners.” By collaborating with these partners at the beginning of the product development cycle, the company aims to streamline the advancement and introduction of new medical technology.
“In the medical industry, there’s an increasing demand for innovation throughout the supply chain,” says Nissim. “Important advances aren’t just being driven by the manufacturer anymore. They’re a cooperative effort involving component suppliers with the resources and experience to actually make the OEM’s product better.”
Nissim points to his company’s Bal Conn™ product as an example of a solution born of just such an “innovation partnership.” The electrical connector, which consists of a tiny, precisely-engineered canted-coil™ spring retained in a metal housing, was originally developed in cooperation with a neurostimulation device manufacturer seeking to reduce package size while improving reliability. Bal Seal’s efforts to aid in the advancement of technology are closely aligned with the “New Frontiers” theme of the 2008 NANS meeting, during which attendees will learn about the use of neuromodulation therapies to combat headaches, obesity and the effects of stroke.
