Blacksburg, VA, United States, 10/09/2008 – In keeping with the spirit of “One Place to See It All,” at this year’s Pack Expo International, November 9-13, 2008 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, ESS Technologies, Inc. will demonstrate complete packaging solutions for pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetics, and consumer goods manufactures. ESS Booth N-3336 will feature hands-on demonstrations of a completely integrated high speed Tube Filling and Cartoning line, the new K 15 Horizontal Case Packer, featuring a very small footprint, and a Robotic Mini Palletizer Cell. In addition, ESS will provide a demonstration of the TaskMate™ Robotic Loading System in Tegrant/Alloyd Brands booth S-963/S-966, where the system will be integrated with a Tegrant/Alloyd Brands Blister Packaging Machine.
High Speed Tube Filling/ and Automatic Cartoning with Models TF 80 and AS 150
ESS will also feature a demonstration of Bergami’s high speed model TF 80 Tube Filler/Closer and integrated AS 150 Automatic Cartoner, which creates a packaging solution that fills and closes up to 80 tubes per minute then cartons the product at a rate of up to 140 cartons per minute. The Model TF 80 fills and closes metal, plastic, and polyfoil tubes and is suitable for use in sterile rooms and laminar flows. The AS 150 cartoner includes patented technology that gently handles fragile and glossy cartons without scratches or damages to the carton finish. Both machines offer fast changeover and a variety of tube and carton closing options.
NEW K 15 Case Packer Offers Very Small Footprint
The new Bergami K 15 Case Packer uses high accuracy mechanics to create a high performance machine that offers one of the smallest footprints in the industry. True “Balcony” design and the rear drive meet cGMP standards and allow complete access for product changeover, inspection, and maintenance. The case packer loads cartons, bundles, pouches, squeezable tubes, etc. into corrugated cases at a speed of up to 18 cases per minute. The machine is controlled via an Allen Bradley PLC with PanelView HMI for ease of operation. The very small footprint makes the K 15 a flexible fit to any packaging line. Digital indicators on the front of the machine allow for quick changeover times.
Robotic Mini Cell Palletizer
The ESS Technologies, Inc., Robotic Mini Palletizer Cell incorporates a FANUC robot with custom-designed end-of-arm tooling to create single pallet, dual pallet, and multiple pallet cell configurations. As an authorized FANUC system integrator, ESS Technologies has the experience needed to create a cost-effective, high performance mini-palletizer cell that can palletize 25-30 cases per minute. The Robotic Mini Palletizer cell offers a very small footprint (the single pallet system requires only 70" x 143"). Custom end-of-arm robotic tooling is designed for each application, and tooling changeover times are very fast (5 minutes or less, typically). The system features a controller and easy-to-use teach pendant that greatly simplifies setup and operator training.
TaskMate™ Robotic Loading, Collating, and Assembly Systems
In conjunction with Tegrant/Alloyd Brands (Booth S-963/S-966), ESS will demonstrate a TaskMate™ Robotic Loading System integrated with a Tegrant/Alloyd Brands Aergo 8 Duo Blister Packaging Machine. The robotic loading system combines a FANUC robot with programming and ESS-designed end-of-arm tooling to create a system that reduces repetitive motion in the loading, unloading, collating, and assembly of packaged medical devices, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and consumer goods. The TaskMate™ equipment works in a number of environments, including clean room settings. Enhanced motion control, speed, vision, and robotic dexterity make the TaskMate™ system ideal for pick and place applications, carton/case loading, product collation and dispensing, product orientation, and production inspection and sampling.
