Johannesburg, South Africa, 2008/06/05 - FM Protector is an exciting new addition to the Fleet Manager (FM) range of products. An affordable, self-managed solution that is user friendly and features basic tracking and personal security functionality.
MiX Telematics (formally OMNiBRIDGE), a listed company (MIX : JSE) and a global provider of fleet management solutions, recently released their latest addition to the established Fleet Manager range, the FM Protector.
The FM Protector is an easy-to-use personal fleet management product designed to put owners of private vehicles or small fleets in control by tracking vehicles and protecting drivers in real-time. Vehicles are monitored and managed through a user-friendly website and any cell phone can be used to query a vehicle's exact whereabouts.
Vehicles are tracked in real-time with the vehicles movements displayed on detailed street level and Google Satellite Maps. The secure website stores all trip information for historical reporting where data is accessible in exportable report form and historical trips and events can be replayed on interactive web maps. All data is confidential and is only accessible with a username and password.
From the website, fm-protector.com, Fleet Operators select and adjust driving events and vehicle profiles according to their needs and preferences. Alert button activation, geofence violations, over speeding, tow-away, low battery, theft and many other event notifications can be sent directly to your cell phone or via email. Drivers are warned of over-speeding violations as they occur through a built in speaker capable of audible voice prompts. This gives drivers the opportunity to adjust their driving style before an over-speeding event is reported to the office. Mobile phones can be used to request vehicle locations and administer self tests with immediate responses.
For peace of mind and as an additional security measure, the FM Protector is equipped with a backup battery. In the event that your vehicle is stolen and the power to the unit is cut, an immediate notification is sent to selected recipients by SMS or email and the unit will continue to operate, giving additional time to locate your vehicle safely.
Charles Tasker, MD (International) of MiX Telematics International describes the new solution, “The FM Protector is a secure, easy to use internet based system, allowing owners of private vehicles or small fleets to track their vehicles with a web browser, anywhere, anytime. Users have access to an useful range of information including driving events, vehicle locations, real time and historical tracking. We are very excited to launch our first fleet product designed specifically with smaller fleets in mind.”
