Huntington Beach, CA, United States, 2008/05/13 - BrightCom™ donated a beta version of their next generation video conferencing product to New Ways of Working Network to bridge telepresence, web conferencing and desktop video solutions, ultimately connecting luminaries from around the country.
BrightCom™, the performance leader in integrated conferencing solutions, continued their support of the New Ways of Working Network by donating a beta version of their latest video conferencing product (codename Narwhal) for the April Tertulia roundtable discussion. This next generation video conferencing product was used to bridge telepresence, web conferencing and desktop video solutions, ultimately connecting luminaries from around the country.
During the first public test, Narwhal connected participants in three conference rooms and a handful of individual users located around the country. Two conference rooms were already outfitted with conference equipment from LifeSize®. The new BrightCom server architecture expanded the reach of this conference beyond the two LifeSize conference rooms to a third conference room and individuals on personal computers with no conferencing hardware installed.
“BrightCom’s latest work has made conferencing more flexible by allowing more users to participate via the web and breaking down the limits of conference room technology,” said Bob McCandless CEO of BrightCom. “Industry standards have allowed us to connect to and extend the power of systems such as LifeSize, and PolyCom® and we are very thankful to NWOW for being a great stepping stone to test with.”
Narwhal features interoperability with existing video conferencing hardware, and an intuitive multi-panel display that maximizes space based on amount of content and number of screens, incorporating data with telepresence functionality. In addition, it provides hi-definition video with a full suite of data sharing options including document and screen sharing, white boarding and instant polling. With an easy to use interface, participants experience the benefits of integrated conferencing.
