Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa, 02/08/2008 – OmniBridge, a TeliMatrix company (JSE: MIX) and a global leader in fleet management solutions, today announced that Polish mining company, BOT KWB “Turow” S.A. reduced fuel costs across their fleet of 350 vehicles by 20% with the implementation of OMNiBRIDGE’s fleet management system, the FM Communicator.
The vehicles at the KWB Brown Coal Mine in Bogatynia, Poland consume over 650 000 litres of fuel every month. The heaviest machines use roughly 40 litres per hour, often caused by inefficient driving and lack of control by both drivers and management. OMNiBRIDGE’s fleet management system, FM Communicator at KWB, has now enabled the mining company to measure fuel consumption across their fleet and be reminded of scheduled maintenance on each vehicle, which needs to be serviced every six months due to the tough conditions under which they operate.
Fuel consumption is recorded by FM Communicator and consumption limits can be set, so fleet managers can see which drivers exceed their limit and when. With this FM Communicator now in place, KWB have now developed a reward based system to encourage fuel efficient driving and handling of equipment. When an employee keeps within their fuel consumption limit, KWB installs an air-conditioning system in their vehicle.
Since implementation of OMNiBRIDGE’s fleet management solution backed by KWB’s reward system, fuel savings have been roughly 130 000 litres per month, resulting in a reduction of roughly 20% in fuel costs.
“We are continually impressed by the significant savings and improved driver behaviour. We can now monitor vehicles online, in real-time and can quickly and easily review detailed data reports. It’s impossible to imagine KWB could manage without the system,” says Mr. Grzegorz Oleszkiewicz, the Service Manager at KWB.
Local OMNiBRIDGE fleet management system distributors, Drabpol, were responsible for the sale and successful implementation of FM Communicator at KWB.
