Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa, 11/30/2007 – OmniBridge a global leader in fleet management solutions, has partnered with Lysanda, a UK based automotive systems house, to jointly launch a Carbon Emissions Measurement and Reporting solution for Fleet Managers.
The joint solution will enable Fleet Managers to accurately measure and report the carbon emissions of their fleet of vehicles. The partnership is a result of a growing demand for environmentally focused solutions and an anticipated requirement in the market for information on a company’s impact on the environment and compliance with future industry requirements.
“We’ve identified a growing trend in the market to require environmental policy compliance,” says Charles Tasker, MD of OmniBridge. “Companies around the world will begin to position themselves as ‘green’ by dealing with environmentally friendly companies that comply with either company or industry imposed environmental regulations and policies. We’ve partnered with Lysanda to bring to market a best-of-breed solution to meet this anticipated market requirement as quickly as possible.”
Tasker added “What’s more, there is a direct correlation between fuel consumption and carbon emissions. By managing and reducing carbon emissions, this joint offering will also enable fleet managers to significantly reduce fuel consumption.”
A major American retailer is leading a trend by recently announcing that they are working with a handful of their 60 000 suppliers worldwide to determine the impact that the production and shipping of their products have on the environment.
“Current methods of monitoring and controlling exhaust emissions are failing to keep pollution in check, and new legislation is pending in the UK and other EU countries to introduce much tighter emission controls,” says Lysanda CEO and Founder, Alex Willard. “Our technology is unique in that it generates much more accurate statistics by calculating what the emissions would be from the various inputs from the engine, rather than directly measuring the exhaust itself.”
The partnership will enable fleet managers to remotely access a continuous stream of data on fuel consumption and carbon emissions from any vehicle in its fleet by integrating Lysanda’s Eco-Log on-board computer with OmniBridge ’s FM 300 fleet management solution (formerly sold exclusively by Siemens VDO). Initial use will be within the fleet industry where the system can identify heavy-footed drivers, helping to cut fuel consumption and a company’s carbon emissions. The joint-solution will be launched by both companies at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham UK in April 2008 (….before rolling out globally across OmniBridge ’s network of resellers and distributors in 75 countries).
