WaveMarket, a leader in mobile location-based search and services, today announced that the company’s Family Finder solution has officially launched with MTS Allstream Inc. (“MTS Allstream”), one of Canada’s leading national communications providers. WaveMarket’s Family Finder technology, marketed as Seek & Find by MTS Allstream, gives MTS Allstream wireless customers the ability to locate family and friends by determining the location of their wireless devices. The service is permission based, and only those who have given permission to carry out a locate can do so from any web enabled computer.
“Wireless carriers worldwide recognize the value that people see in using mobile technology to check on the whereabouts of their friends and family members,” said Tasso Roumeliotis, CEO of WaveMarket. “By partnering with MTS Allstream, WaveMarket is giving families, individuals and business owners throughout Manitoba access to secure, highly advanced, and personalized information from any Internet connection.”
MTS Allstream’s launch marks WaveMarket’s sixth commercial deployment of its industry-leading family location solution. Family Finder also is available from Aliant and Bell Mobility in Canada, Sprint Nextel and Alltel in the United States and Vivo, Latin America's largest mobile carrier. Using the WaveMarket service, MTS Allstream wireless customers now can locate wireless devices belonging to friends and family on-demand and set up regular location checks, allowing them to be notified when a contact has changed locations.
“Family Finder provides wireless carriers with a fast, cost-effective way to leverage the power of GPS to meet customer demand,” Roumeliotis said. “MTS Allstream is the latest example of the rapidly growing worldwide market for Family Finder.”
