Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, 09/19/2007 – Video Tally has many features to ensure accurate counting. Each unit can be adjusted for things like: people turning sharply left or right after entering, shadows, counting children, the height of the camera above the floor, whether crowds are expected, people turning sharply left or right after entering, lighting conditions, special situations such as counting people getting off escalators and other factors.
Video Tally monitors people coming through one or two doorways of a business. The count is stored in a text file which can be analysed in a choice of software, including Microsoft Excel.
Live, updating counts are shown on the PC alongside a historical record of logged data.
Video Tally measures 140 x 65 x 27 mm and weighs 150 g. It connects to the PC over USB. The system is so reliable that Biodata provide free technical support for life.
The count is bi-directional. It distinguishes between people entering and people leaving a store.
Compiling footfall or people count data lets businesses identify staffing issues, evaluate the success of promotions, compare data from different stores, find out the effects of new competitors and compare visitors over different periods.
All settings of the system are set from software. The software will even give advice on the best settings for particular situations. It works internationally: you can set a minimum person size, how close together people tend to walk and choose European or American video type.
The counts can be transferred over the internet for remote viewing.
