The Award is presented in recognition of the company’s CAD-COLON computer aided detection system, developed using proprietary software algorithms as well as for its exceptional research and successful commercial business collaborations.
“im3D - Medical Imaging Lab has with its superlative product offering, strategic partnerships and technological competence, made its presence felt strongly in the European CAD markets,” says Frost & Sullivan Research Manager Siddharth Saha. “With clear strategies and strong distribution partnerships, the company is poised to carve out a significant market share in the CAD markets for virtual colonoscopy with its CAD-COLON product offering.”
CAD-COLON is amongst the first computer aided detection products to be commercially introduced for virtual colonoscopy, which gives the company a significant competitive advantage. The potential market for the product is vast, given the high incidence of colorectal cancer across the world and the increased use of virtual colonoscopy as a screening tool to detect polyps very early in their development.
“The software is provided in im3D’s custom built workstation to provide sufficient computing power to harness the full potential of the complex software algorithms of the CAD system,” adds Mr. Saha. “This enables im3D - Medical Imaging Lab to sell their CAD-COLON solution independently without the need for partnering with CT workstation vendors.”
im3D - Medical Imaging Lab has long standing research partnerships with the Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (IRCC) and the Institute for Scientific Interchange Foundation (ISI) to further the development of the CAD-COLON product as well as design newer applications of computer aided detection in other areas.
“im3D - Medical Imaging Lab has also established distribution partnerships in major country markets across Europe and is also in the process of establishing further partnerships in the remaining regions of Europe,” notes Mr. Saha. “These partnerships will enable the company to reach out to the entire European continent commercially with their CAD-COLON product.”
For these reasons, and its outstanding contributions to the European CAD markets, im3D - Medical Imaging Lab, is the worthy recipient of the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Entrepreneurial Company of The Year Award.
