Shanghai, China, 07/21/2007 – Product safety has been a hot topic in China in recent months, with reports of tainted pet foods, fake drugs, toxin-coated cosmetics, drug-laced frozen eel, illicit pesticide-laden mushrooms and other products have led to recalls and bans and potentially more stringent product safety laws in China.
The government has pledged to boost its safety standards but many companies across China have started to realise that they must, as a matter of urgency, begin to pay greater attention to ensuring that their products are distributed, stored and handled to the required temperature range to guarantee freshness and safety to final consumers.
Oganized by the Global Supply Chain Council, Asia’s Leading Supply Chain Professional Organization, the 2nd annual Cold Chain China Summit provided invaluable opportunities for delegates to discuss the challenges involved in the cold chain process and understand best practice for handling, transporting and storing temperature-sensitive products in China.
“We are very pleased with the response of the second annual cold chain event in Shanghai” commented Max Henry, Founder & Executive Director of the Global Supply Chain Council. “The number of Chinese cold chain service providers, the range of topics and the overall quality of the sessions and speakers have made this event particularly interesting to a number of food, beverage and pharmaceuticals manufacturers attending”.
This conference featured keynote addresses by recognized logistics executives, case study presentations from major corporations and panel discussions led by top experts:
- Billie Huang, Vice President, Sinotrans
- Michael Lee, Director of Manufacturing Projects, Merial China
- Mao Li, Operations General Manager, YG Cold Logistics
- Henrik Anker Olesen, Transport & Logistics Leader Asia, IBM
- Pilar Dieter, Director, Alaris Consulting
- Bill O'Brien, President Greater China, HAVI FOODS
- Steven Cross, Managng Director, ATMS
- Alfred Cheung, Former Director of Reefer Trade, OOCL
- Stephanie Hericher, F&B Manager, CLASQUIN
- Daryoush Ziai, General Manager Asia, SENSITECH
More than 80 senior supply chain and logistics executives attended the event and the event was rated higher than last year with better speakers and more interesting local case studies.
Full proceedings of the event including event program and CD-Rom containing the available presentations are available for paid distribution. A full recording of the event has also been produced and will be made available to only Council members soon.
