ESET Distribution Middle East, the regional business development centre of ESET NOD32 Antivirus, today announced that the American University of Kuwait (AUK) has once again selected ESET NOD32 to protect their network and computers from threats like viruses, malware, spyware and other emerging online threats. Future Technology Systems, ESET's sole partner in Kuwait, signed the deal with AUK for 4000 user licenses for ESET NOD32 at their campus.
Speaking on their decision to deploy ESET NOD32, Eng. Mohammad Galal Tahon, Chief IT Administrator, American University of Kuwait, said, "We evaluated a number of antivirus solutions and NOD32 outperformed its competitors by delivering exactly what we needed. ESET’s solution was not only reliable but also easy to deploy and provided us with a superior level of protection required to keep online threats off the network. NOD32 updates automatically without disrupting the students' or staff's work and has greatly improved our daily routine. The antivirus also protected our systems from spywares and suspicious files even if they were not a known threat. Furthermore we did not face any conflict problems with any other installed products unlike other antivirus systems we have used in the past. Using NOD32 is one of the best decisions we have made at AUK."
Prior to signing the deal, AUK performed a rigorous analysis of several antivirus products based on detection, manageability and performance, and ESET’s NOD32 came out as the clear winner. During the evaluation process, the AUK sought a solution that would not only be easy to deploy and manage but would also be able to protect against any new forms of online threats. ESET NOD32 was able to provide a secure solution for the entire range of Windows operating systems, at the same time making a minimal impact on the normal operation of the computers. NOD32's centralized management tool allowed technicians to deploy the product quickly and effectively and to manage updates.
"Previously the AUK IT team used to receive calls daily on virus attacks. After installing ESET NOD32, the university has had no problems and can set it and forget about it. ESET NOD32 takes care of protection and threat to perfection and is so light on the system that has resulted in faster systems. Our IT team has already witnessed quantifiable improvements including increased reliability and hardly any complaints about scheduled scans interrupting use. NOD32 is an easy-to-use product and integrates very well with our system. We did not face any difficulties while implementing the solution. ESET NOD32’s Remote administration tool is an IT administrator's dream come true where he can sit on the server and monitor and administer any number of PC’s." Eng. Mohammad Galal Tahon added.
Future Technology Systems helped AUK implement the ESET NOD32 solution seamlessly and in a very short time span. Since implementing ESET software in April 2006, no computers at AUK have been compromised, resulting in an increase in network uptime and end-user productivity for the institution. AUK selected ESET NOD32 Antivirus software as it can be centrally managed, automatically updates end-user devices without impacting performance and offers the highest level of proactive protection that stops new forms of malware before impacting the network. AUK has not had to deal with a single infection in their network since deploying ESET NOD32.
"AUK's decision to switch to ESET is a vote of confidence that our solution is an ideal for large projects requiring streamlined management and unmatched advanced heuristics capabilities that stop emerging threats in their tracks," said Mr. Neo Neophytou, Managing Director, ESET Distribution Middle East. "Since implementing NOD32, AUK has reaped great benefits in terms of overall improved security and time and cost savings. We are pleased to be working with AUK and are committed to ensuring the universities’ experience with ESET is positive."
ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 2.7 utilizes ThreatSense® technology, a sophisticated detection system based on advanced heuristics, to proactively identify previously unknown viruses, Trojans, spyware, rootkits and phishing attacks in real time. ThreatSense is built into NOD32’s single scanning engine to provide comprehensive protection so users do not need to rely on additional point solutions for spyware and adware protection.
