AU-MY team initiated negotiations with the South African government to the tackle road rage death toll, spearheaded by introducing a driving technology device called Drivemocion (drivemocion.com), as a road friendly driving tool. South Africa suffers from one of the highest ratings of road rage casualties (arrivealive.co.za) in the world.
Various studies have confirmed serious levels of aggression in South African drivers, evidence that matches findings of 1 in 10 drivers having experienced the thick end of another drivers abuse (news24.com). Drivemocion is being tendered for government backing, as a road friendly driving product, where manners and courtesy can be expressed with this low cost device. It's also making headway in some of the world's most congested city centres, Moscow for example,and Mexico next on the list of the AU-MY team. It's the first in it's kind, where drivers can express emocions (such as "smile", "sad" and "angry") during their day to day journeys.
AU-MY spokes person Timothy Jackson outlined a few key factors for a successful anti road-rage campaign in South Africa, "the product has been designed for the simplest installation into any car, the lack of wires and complex setup attracts all techno minded drivers to adopt and contribute towards "driver to driver" courtesy. Added to that, the faces really take the edge off aggression on the roads".
