Wingstop, a fast-growing, chicken wing franchise known for cooked-to-order wings, continued its California expansion with the recent opening of a San Leandro, Calif. restaurant.
A three-time pro-bowl guard, Ron Stone, and his wife, Roxanne, own and will conduct the day-to-day operations of the new location. Stone played his final two seasons in Oakland, and was eager to open a business in the area. The San Leandro location is his second Wingstop in the area, he opened the first in Hayward a year ago and has three more under development.
“My husband loves this business and is as dedicated to it as he was with his football career, splitting his time everyday between our two stores,” said Roxanne Stone. “My kids love the food and we love it too. In fact, we’ve gotten the kids involved in the business and they’re learning a great work ethic with it.”

“We’d love to remind everyone that we’re open even after the mall closes, till midnight every night,” said Roxanne.
Wingstop’s signature bone-in chicken wings and boneless wing strips are prepared fresh and are available in nine proprietary flavors. Both types of wings are made-to-order and there are no heat lamps, microwaves or holding bins in the store. Side dishes are made from scratch and prepared daily in each location. Party platters are available for catered events such as office parties, family gatherings and sporting events.
The Stone’s expect to open their third location in Alameda by the end of the year.
Wingstop (wingstop.com) offers restaurants with a nostalgic, aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings. The chain also serves boneless wing strips that are made from 100 percent all-white meat chicken breast coated with a proprietary batter and breading.
