The Alternative Energy Store of Hudson has brought renewable energy into the spotlight with the recent installation of three large (approx. 4’x 3’) solar electric panels on the roof of their company’s headquarters at 43 Broad Street.
It is the FIRST commercial Solar Electric Power System to be connected to Hudson Power’s electric network.
The Solar Electric Power System installation was the “hands-on” part of the Alternative Energy Store’s weekend course in “Advanced Photovoltaic (PV) Concepts and Installation” for licensed electricians, contractors and those with a strong basic understanding of renewable energy systems and electrical principles.
The installation and course was led by renewable energy expert Chris LaForge, an NABCEP certified installer and owner of Great Northern Star renewable energy company of Wisconsin.
According to Sascha Deri, one of Alternative Energy Store’s founders, “We are proud to be the first company in the town of Hudson to install a grid-tied solar electric system. This green energy system will offset a significant portion of our office’s electrical consumption.”
He continued, “In most other parts of Massachusetts, home-owners, businesses and institutions can take advantage of aggressive renewable system rebate program. This rebate, coordinated by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, refunds the customer for a large portion of the costs of a solar or wind electric system tied to the utility grid.”
