Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 2005/10/04 - Global Sources announced it expanded Global Sources Direct to provide two online sales channels. Global Sources Direct, announced in June, enables buyers to purchase small lots of consumer products online direct from China at wholesale prices. NASDAQ: GSOL
The first channel is part of Global Sources’ strategic alliance with eBay, which allows eBay PowerSellers around the world to buy direct from China suppliers through auctions listed under the eBay user ID GlobalSourcesDirect.
Global Sources Vice President Peter Zapf said: “Global Sources Direct is helping a whole new group of buyers to buy direct from China by simplifying the direct importing experience. We’re also opening new sales opportunities for China manufacturers by assisting them to sell to lower volume buyers more profitably.”
One buyer who has made multiple purchases, Chris Rogers of ITs SURPLUS, said: “Global Sources Direct is exactly what we need for our online retail business.
“The lot sizes are ideal to use for sampling purposes. And, if the item sells well, we can easily order multiple lots as needed without taking on excess inventory. The fast delivery times allow us to quickly replenish without losing potential sales.”
High-demand products at wholesale prices, delivery in as little as 3 days
Zapf added: “We continue to expand the range and type of products offered on Global Sources Direct. Products now available include: audio products & accessories (including MP3 players), auto accessories, beauty & personal care, fashion accessories, PC accessories, and sporting gear & equipment.”
Prices of several items on the Global Sources Direct website, excluding shipping, are:
• iPod™ Car Chargers US$46.15 per case of 25
• 3.1 Mega-pixel Digital Video Camcorder US$945.30 per case of 20
• Protective Carrying case for Sony™ PSP US$32.60 per case of 20
• USB Web Camera with LED Night Vision and Built-in Microphone US$137.60 per case of 16
• Pink and White Artificial Fingernails US$34.00 per case of 80
Zapf continued: “By leveraging our 34 years experience with China manufacturers, we are able to offer high-demand, ready-to-export products. We warehouse the items and then make them available online at wholesale prices with purchase volumes as small as a single shipping carton. Because items are in stock, delivery takes as little as three days.”
Global Sources Direct is one component of the company’s sourcing and product information services, which include Asian Sources trade magazines, Global Sources Online and China Sourcing Fairs.
