Las Vegas, United States, 2007/04/16 - Pixelmetrix, the global expert in Preventive Monitoring for digital television and IPTV networks offers operators and service providers ease of mind in the wake of a catastrophe.
Having identified the critical need for digital television network operators to plan ahead in anticipation of disasters of any magnitude, Pixelmetrix offers resilient and reliable tools to tackle disaster recovery and compliance recording.
The duo – DVStor and DVShift. These will be showcased at NAB 2007, Booth SU12109.
The DVShift serves as a backup playout system in the event that the main playout device malfunctions. This MPEG TS Time Shifter renders frame-accurate shifting, and supports autoshifting upon recovery from failure and SNMP traps. It also provides Dynamic Programmable Shift Delay, allowing users to configure the Delay table by defining a variation of delays over a particular duration. This is primarily useful for changes in the time gap between two timezones, in view of daylight savings.
Some countries on the receiving end of the shifted media may impose restrictions on a bulk of television programmes. DVShift can resolve such issues as it allows weekly playlist configuration. The weekly playlist can be set up simply by specifying substituted media to be broadcasted over different periods of time in the week, instead of the usual shift. Additionally, should there be a loss of input signal, DVShift will run a Loop Playout from previously recorded files, in order to prevent blackouts in the output.
“Awareness of the financial implications of not putting in place a reliable disaster recovery systems is vital. Commitment to quality user experience takes top priority and so is addressing service quality challenges to sustain business continuity. Pixelmetrix DVStor and DVShift can help operators and service providers establish an effective disaster recovery strategy,” said Danny Wilson, Pixelmetrix President & CEO.
The DVStor Programmable Scheduled Loop Playout allows the DVStor to perform scheduled ASI recording and playout of the recorded material in a loop until the next scheduled recording. Compliance Recording is achieved with its continuous recording and the ability to schedule TS backup to a pool of external USB hard disks. Like the DVShift, the DVStor can also be used as a backup playout device for Disaster Recovery when the main playout device malfunctions. Other significant features include the Call Centre Application (video thumbnail sequence generation capability and embedded video display of recorded TS), ASI playlist playout and IP recording option.
Pixelmetrix IPTV Testing Platform, the DVStorIP-Gen, provides real IPTV network emulation, generates up to 700 streams and 900Mbps of IPTV traffic with real content of any length, supports dynamic insertion of impairments (packet loss and packet jitter), low packet jitter generation, and more.
Pixelmetrix develops a host of IPTV and Preventive Monitoring systems that offer unique attributes and versatility, allowing operators to achieve end-to-end visibility and keep tabs on their network architecture.
