SmarDTV, a Kudelski Group company, today announced that its new generation chipset for Conditional Access Modules (CAMs), the CAP210, leverages fundamental innovations in embedded silicon security offering robustness across a broad range of security profiles. New SmarDTV CAMs thus achieve certification for both NAGRA NOCS3 state-of-the-art On-Chip Security and for Conax latest card-based and cardless security requirements, enabling a wide gamut of content business models for the pay-TV market.
The NOCS3 certification enables SmarDTV to offer CAMs that support NAGRA’s anyCAST content security solutions that can secure premium pay-TV services for both broadcast and broadband platforms using both cardless and card-based security clients. NAGRA’s cardless solutions run fully within the CAP210 chip, making it highly robust.
The CAP210 chipset has also been certified to meet Conax’ comprehensive requirements for cardless and card-based security clients, all based on Conax Contego’s unified security back-end built for highly sturdy platform protection and seamless co-existence of smart card and cardless populations.
The new CAP210-based CAM platform is already compatible with the latest CI-Plus version 1.4.1 of the specifications published by CI-Plus LLP in December 2015. Pay-TV operators can now offer a CAM based OTT solution using their main TV portal directly on the TV through an HbbTV 2.0 based user interface that supports an all IP content delivery as a hybrid or IPTV offer.
The first CAP210-based CAM is the SmarCAM-5 cardless product. Its innovative plastic casing designed by SmarDTV Design Studio additionally allows for a wide range of colors and textures that offer pay-TV operators and distributors further branding and image options for the retail market. Samples of the SmarDTV Cardless SmarCAM-5 will be displayed at IBC Show in Amsterdam on SmarDTV booth 1.C81 of the RAI Convention Centre, September 9-13, 2016.
