ADVA Optical Networking announced today that it has won a joint Business Service Innovation Award with DartPoints at the Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Innovation & Technology Summit. Presented at a ceremony in London, the accolade recognizes DartPoints’ pioneering micro data center service offering built on ADVA Ensemble network functions virtualization (NFV) technology. The companies’ bold strategy to give customers a competitive advantage through virtualization at the edge of the network lifted them above competing solutions. DartPoints is successfully using the new solution to provide enterprises with dynamic and cost-efficient software-based services.
“DartPoints is extending the cloud by bringing it to small and medium-sized businesses. We colocate micro data centers with our customers who are looking for cost-effective ways to create customized data centers to meet their specific needs,” said Satya Baddipudi, CTO, DartPoints. “We’re virtualizing our managed service offering with the Ensemble Connector NFV infrastructure solution, along with Ensemble Orchestrator to provide dynamic services to our customers at a price they want to pay. Because this solution is completely open, we’re free to mix-and-match virtual network functions (VNFs) from many suppliers, all hosted and orchestrated using ADVA Ensemble solutions. It’s an exciting new way of doing business.”
DartPoints (dartpoints.com) is now using its new virtualized managed service offering built on the ADVA Ensemble product suite to instantly deliver on-demand VNFs at the customer premises. With the multi-tenant Ensemble Orchestrator, a revolutionary ETSI-MANO-compliant NFV management and orchestration solution, instances of a VNF can be provisioned with multiple customers. The Ensemble Connector provides virtual switching and CE 2.0 functionality in a hardware-agnostic, software-only solution. It pairs with the ADVA FSP 150 ProVMi to create one platform for both services and network access. This powerful combination enables DartPoints to share network resources for optimized utilization and reduced overhead costs.
“The micro data center model, enabled by our Ensemble product suite, opens the door to multi-service edge hosting. It demonstrates the business case for virtualized services and makes them accessible to a far wider range of customers,” commented Prayson Pate, CTO, Ensemble Division, ADVA Optical Networking. “The secret sauce that makes this unique solution possible is our Ensemble Orchestrator. It handles VNF onboarding and deployment so that DartPoints can provide services to many customers at once. This GTB Business Service Innovation Award is a clear validation of how our technology is enabling service providers to migrate to a new, agile, software-based approach to networking.”
