The PCL family of companies is pleased to announce that two of its projects have been recognized by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine’s Global Best Project Awards, an annual competition that highlights teamwork and overcoming hurdles of designing and building internationally.
“It is a tremendous honor for two of PCL’s projects to be recognized from across the global construction industry, and I congratulate all of our partners whose collaborative efforts resulted in the successful outcomes of the Humber River Hospital and Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre projects,” said PCL president and CEO, Paul Douglas.
Industry veterans selected 23 projects hailing from 15 different countries and five continents as outstanding examples of designing and building internationally. The judges looked at projects in many markets and examined safety performance, innovations, challenges, and design and construction quality - with a special emphasis on the diversity of global project teams and their collaboration.
“The fact that two PCL projects were recognized amongst the outstanding accomplishments constructed across the world over the past year demonstrates our commitment to being the most respected builder, renowned for excellence, leadership and unsurpassed value,” adds Douglas.
As a design-build leader, PCL managed an intensely collaborative environment, methodically addressing each requirement through coordination of consultants, subcontractors and specialty providers for all phases of project delivery. Both projects were delivered on time and on budget in partnership with Infrastructure Ontario through an alternative financing and procurement (AFP) model, which uses private financing and expertise to strategically build quality infrastructure, on time and on budget, leading North America as the most advanced and active market for public-private partnerships.
“As one of North America’s most prolific P3 constructors, our track record demonstrates that we bring together the strongest, most capable design teams, subcontractors, financiers, operators and facilities managers, based on a best-in-class model, resulting in an innate ability to build faster, at a more cost effective price, while never compromising quality or safety,” shares Douglas.
