Based on its recent analysis of the managed security service provider (MSSP) market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Fortinet, Inc. with the 2016 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for market leadership. In Frost & Sullivan’s recent survey of more than 100 network security platforms, Fortinet emerged as the top-ranked North American network security product supplier among MSSPs. Fortinet achieved this dominant position on the strength of its FortiGate line of high-performance firewalls, next-gen firewalls, and unified threat management (UTM) solutions.
Fortinet’s FortiGate is well suited to the needs of MSSPs because of its rich set of features. In addition to state-of-the-art firewall functionality, the FortiGate platform has intrusion prevention, antimalware, application control, Web filtering, and advanced threat protection tools.
“The company’s strategy of bundling services on a single platform presents clear value to the MSSP, as it reduces their training and support costs. A FortiGate 60D running in a retail branch has the same OS as a multi-tenant platform running in the core of a telecom provider,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Director Frank Dickson. “Tools such as monthly billing, service automation, and return-on-investment models will further help MSSPs profit from Fortinet’s platforms.”
In addition to a common OS and a single management platform, Fortinet (fortinet.com) reduces ‘soft’ costs through other methods as well. One of them is to enhance the FortiGate platform to eliminate the need to support the platforms of its competitors. A higher number of vendors for the MSSP translate to higher staffing for the same number of customers and same revenue. By delivering fewer platforms, FortiGate reduces MSSPs’ operational expenditures.
“Fortinet invests in the knowledge base of its MSSP partners to ensure that the latter are able to serve their customers and build a successful managed security services business,” noted Dickson. “It offers free training to MSSP personnel to reduce the upfront cost burden of the Fortinet security tools.”
The company has also rolled out sponsorship programs for military veterans seeking a career in cybersecurity with MSSPs. Finally, it rewards higher levels of MSSP participation and certification with larger pricing discounts.
For polling the most number of votes in the total network security platform market, Frost & Sullivan is pleased to present Fortinet with the 2016 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Leadership.
