ALM has acquired Legal Week from Incisive Media. The deal, which comes on the heels of ALM’s acquisition of China Law & Practice from Euromoney in August 2015, will strengthen ALM’s strategic presence in European and Asian markets and add to the company’s portfolio of legal media properties, which includes Law.com, The American Lawyer, Asian Lawyer, Corporate Counsel, and The National Law Journal. The transaction closed on January 8, 2016.
“This acquisition is an important next step as we expand our offerings into key international markets,” said Bill Carter, CEO of ALM. “Legal Week has a strong audience base in Europe and Asia, and an impressive collection of industry events. It has also successfully transitioned to a business model primarily focused on digital content and services. These attributes make Legal Week an ideal addition to our platform.”
Legal Week provides a wide range of high-quality digital content including news, analysis, opinion pieces and research for senior lawyers within the world’s leading law firms and legal departments. Additionally, Legal Week delivers a series of market-leading annual events, including Legal Week Private Client Forum, Trust & Estates Litigation Forum, Strategic Technology Forum, a series of Corporate Counsel Forums, and The British Legal Awards.
This marks ALM’s fourth deal since it was acquired by Wasserstein & Co., LP in July 2014. In addition to ALM’s purchase of China Law & Practice in August 2015, the company’s previous acquisitions include Summit Professional Networks in January 2015 and Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory in December 2014.
