Sterilex Corporation announces the introduction of EPA registered Sterilex Ultra Disinfectant Cleaner to complement Sterilex CW502 Biocide which has superior efficacy against food pathogens such as Listeria monocytogenes, E. coli, and Salmonella as compared to traditional disinfectants. Sterilex Ultra Disinfectant Cleaner is an important addition to the company’s line of food protection products which include anti-biofilm biocides1 and specialty cleaning products for the food industry. Sterilex Ultra Disinfectant Cleaner is designed to be used on processing equipment, cutting tables, belts, environmental surfaces, and refrigeration coils; in transfer lines and tanks, CIP systems, and COP systems. Proper disinfection of fresh produce processing equipment is essential to prevent cross-contamination and ensure the highest quality product. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the new FDA fresh produce recommendations include the disinfection of fresh produce processing equipment.
Sterilex products have been customized to address the sanitation challenges and to solve quality control problems for which routine cleaners and sanitizers are ineffective. Sterilex products are based upon a patented alkaline peroxide chemistry with phase transfer catalysis, which has the unique ability to penetrate and remove organic soils, and to kill pathogenic and food spoilage microorganisms. The synergistic components in Sterilex products create a powerful level of performance through multiple mechanisms of action. Sterilex products contain no chlorine, solvents, or VOC’s.
The addition of Sterilex products has been demonstrated to lead to significant competitive advantages and operating efficiencies for customers as evidenced by increased shelf life, prevention of microbial spikes, prevention of recalls, reduction of product losses, and optimization of productivity.
Sterilex products have received widespread recognition, and are recommended by QA/QC managers at leading food processing companies. Sterilex was awarded a USDA National Research Initiative grant to demonstrate the efficacy of its products against Listeria monocytogenes in meat and poultry plants. Sterilex was the first company to receive biofilm removal claims for industrial and public health applications by the US EPA, and was also the proud recipient of “Bio Product of the Year” award from the Technology Council of Maryland.
