Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, 2015/01/13 - Today, Wellnext, Inc., an Edmonton-based human resource technology startup, announced the first release of Wellnext Steps, the Step Counter for SharePoint: the first workplace wellness tool for Microsoft’s popular SharePoint platform.
“More than 100 million people use SharePoint, across hundreds of thousands of organizations,” says Sam Jenkins, CEO and Co-Founder. “We wanted to introduce Wellnext to people via a tool that they already use every day. Our vision is to change the experiences that people have at work: to active happier and healthier workplaces.”
Wellnext Steps is built to help organizations easily create step counting and fitness initiatives within the workplace. Coupled with the rest of Wellnext’s technology platform, organizations can influence positive actions in the workplace through workplace biometric screening, collaborative challenges, incentives, learning, and business analytics.
Especially in today’s changing economy, organizations are investing heavily in the value of people at work. Workplace wellness is an important agenda topic for people-centric organizations. According to a recent Tower Watson survey, 91% of employers believe that health programs are critical components influencing their organizational health and productivity strategy. Wellnext Steps can fit into any organization’s wellness strategy.
“The technical challenge of workplace wellness has never been more accessible,” states Estyn Edwards, Lead Software Architect and Co-Founder at Wellnext. “By using tools like Microsoft SharePoint, we know that we’re picking standard platforms that are embedded in the way that people already work. We just want to give employees the chance to work heathier.”
Steps is just the first SharePoint Web App that is planned to be released by Wellnext this year. Wellnext Wellnext Volunteer! and Wellnext Social Fitness will be released via the Microsoft Office Store in the Spring 2015, and Wellnext Steps for iPhone will be launched in the Apple Store in Summer 2015.
Wellnext Steps is available for free via the Microsoft Office Store.
