Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 73,000 customers, today announced that Southern Tier HealthLink (STHL) plans to implement Infor's cloud-based Cloverleaf Healthcare Information Exchange (HIE), a secure, standards-based infrastructure that integrates clinical data from across disparate systems and manages the wide variety of clinical records, document types, and content pervasive in today's healthcare community. The application is delivered as a service, therefore STHL will be able to forego software and hardware licenses, which helps to reduce the need for large capital expenditures, and will help save resources. In addition, STHL will also leverage Infor Business Intelligence (BI) to support the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program, which promotes community-level collaborations and focuses on system reform, specifically a goal to achieve a 25 percent reduction in avoidable hospital use over five years.
Furthermore, the technology will support HealthlinkNY, a new collaborative effort between STHL and the Taconic Health Information Network and Community (THINC) announced today as a result of their plans to merge. HealthlinkNY will serve an 11 county region spanning the Hudson Valley, Catskills and Southern Tier of New York.
Infor Cloverleaf HIE can assist in helping to meet the needs of HealthlinkNY by providing the underlying infrastructure that allows providers, payers and patients to access and share their health information so that outcomes are improved and cost of care is lowered. "We are very excited to be working with Infor to deploy the Cloverleaf HIE for HealthlinkNY," states Christina Galanis, Executive Director of STHL. "This technology will help us empower the communities we serve to improve healthcare delivery and management, which will lead to reduced healthcare costs across the state."
The Infor Cloverleaf Suite is a leading clinical integration and information exchange solution that helps to create a sustainable foundation for healthcare organizations to proactively manage, coordinate, and share data across the care continuum. Additionally, it was recently named the Top Complex Data and IT Integrator HIE solution by Black Book Market Research LLC. With an industry leading Cloverleaf integration engine at its core, the Infor Cloverleaf HIE enables complex clinical interoperability for a wide variety of data types, standards and protocols in pursuit of enabling one master patient record per patient across multiple health information systems and electronic health record (EHR) platforms.
In addition, Infor BI will provide access to pre-packaged role and clinical-based analytics that allow users across the HealthlinkNY region to monitor and analyze performance, ultimately transforming information into actionable insights and speeding decision-making leading to greater collaboration, patient outcomes and cost effective care delivery. This will especially help teams at HealthlinkNY with comparative effectiveness, care management, personalized medicine, risk assessment, quality measures reporting, decision support, and population health.
"The triple aim of healthcare is all about bringing clinical and business information together. It's impossible for a healthcare organization to deliver the best care at the lowest cost, and to ensure patients are satisfied during their encounter, when data is siloed," said Barry P. Chaiken, M.D., chief medical information officer, Infor. "Infor's cloud-based Cloverleaf HIE will connect disparate systems, efficiently deliver results, properly manage the exchange of clinical summaries, support non-EMR providers, facilitate referrals and consults, and get all participating HealthlinkNY care providers on the same page with a shared view of the patient's record, while Infor BI will provide the needed analytical content to quickly and intuitively evaluate the performance of HealthlinkNY's care delivery operations."
HealthlinkNY was formed as a collaboration between Southern Tier HealthLink (STHL) and Taconic Health Information Network and Community (THINC) to offer a unified health information exchange and collaboration point for the region spanning the Hudson Valley, Catskills, and Southern Tier of New York. The primary purpose of HealthlinkNY is to advance healthcare value and integrate care throughout the region by providing information and transformation tools, including access to the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY), to the individuals and communities served. By empowering communities to improve healthcare delivery, HealthlinkNY will be a pre-eminent health transformation organization.
