• Jayne Jamison, formerly vice president, publishing director of Redbook and Seventeen has been named senior vice president, publisher of O, The Oprah Magazine.
• Sue Katzen has been appointed publisher of Redbook. She had been associate publisher, advertising, of Cosmopolitan.
• Jill Seelig, formerly senior vice president, publisher of O, The Oprah Magazine, will take on a new role as senior vice president, corporate development, magazine publishing.
The appointments are effective immediately, and all three report to Michael A. Clinton, president, marketing and publishing director of Hearst Magazines. Donna Kalajian Lagani, senior vice president, publishing director of Cosmopolitan and Cosmo For Latinas, adds oversight of Seventeen, it was announced earlier.
Jamison has been vice president, publisher and chief revenue officer of Seventeen since 2003, and was named publisher of Redbook in 2013, a position she held previously from 1997 to 2003. Seelig spent 15 years at O, The Oprah Magazine, 13 as publisher.
“Jayne has vast experience in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle categories, coupled with a truly inventive, entrepreneurial spirit,” Clinton said. “She’s a creative marketer and will bring new ideas and partnerships to O, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary next year. We thank Jill for her commitment to O and for making it the powerhouse brand it is today. Now, she’ll apply her formidable skills to developing the new products that we have in the pipeline.”
Jamison has conceived and implemented numerous integrated programs for both Redbook and Seventeen, creating an in-house marketing agency that provides clients with research, creative, events and promotional and multiplatform programs. Earlier in her career, Jamison was group publisher of the Parenthood Group at Gruner + Jahr and served as publisher of American Health.
Sue Katzen will be publisher of Redbook. She had been associate publisher, advertising, of Cosmopolitan since 2005. Before that, she was associate publisher of Cosmo Girl! from 2003 to 2005 and advertising director at Woman’s Day from 1999 to 2002. Katzen started her career in advertising agencies Wells, Rich and Greene and Chiat/Day.
“Sue will further develop Redbook’s positioning as a style guide for modern women, focusing on smart fashion and beauty,” Clinton said. “She’s strategic and savvy, having overseen many of Cosmopolitan’s biggest accounts and programs, and now, working closely with editor in chief Meredith Rollins, she will reinforce Redbook’s distinct point-of-view in the marketplace.”
Lagani has been leading sales and marketing for Cosmopolitan since 1995, adding Cosmo For Latinas in 2012. Prior to joining Cosmopolitan, which was No. 1 on Adweek’s Hot List in 2013, Kalajian Lagani was vice president and publisher of Ladies’ Home Journal, the first female to hold the position in the magazine’s history. She was elected to the American Advertising Federation’s Hall of Achievement, has been honored at the prestigious Look Good, Feel Better Dream Ball and received the USO’s Annual Woman of the Year Distinguished Service Award.
