London, United Kingdom, 2014/08/11 - Europe’s largest consumer show will see leading computing consumables brand Verbatim launch PLA and ABS plastic filaments for 3D printers which ensure consistent feed and stable printing IFA Berlin, Germany Verbatim Hall 17, Stand 100 - Verbatim.com.
Verbatim, a pioneer of data storage technology, is using IFA Berlin running from September 5-10, 2014 to announce its entry into the fast developing 3D printing market with the availability of a top-grade range of PLA and ABS plastic filament materials.
The 3D printing process enables physical objects to be made from three-dimensional models by laying down successive layers of a material in an additive manufacturing process. The 3D printing industry is currently undergoing a massive transformation and enjoying unprecedented growth that is estimated to reach a value of $669 million (€500 million) in 2014, according to Gartner. Now, new and more technologically advanced 3D printers are increasingly being introduced that target use in homes, schools and universities, and key business and industrial applications.
Available in Europe in September 2014, the Verbatim PLA range will come in 1.75mm and 3mm diameter filament and the Verbatim ABS material will come in 1.75mm diameter filament. Both will be offered in an assortment of vibrant colours as 1kg spools.
The products are manufactured in Japan from the highest quality materials and produced to extremely tight tolerances to ensure consistent feed and stable printing. The filaments will be distributed in vacuum-sealed bags with desiccant, and wound onto a custom spool that has been designed for strength, uniform dynamic performance and trouble-free dispensing.
In addition to the launch of this new range of 3D printer filaments, Verbatim will also be using IFA to demonstrate a wide range of innovations that are ideal for consumers using portable technology devices. These include: the lightweight MediaShare Wireless, which can connect to Wi-Fi enabled tablets and smartphones allowing users to view, play, stream and back up photos, video clips and music; the portable Ultra-Slim 4200mAh power pack, which offers smartphone and tablet users more ways to stay powered up while on the move; an attractive collection of Folio cases designed to help protect tablets, e-readers and smartphones from everyday wear and tear; the Micro SD Cards and the Nano USB Drive with Micro USB Adapter Nano OTG, which enable users to make file transfers between devices faster and easier without using a computer, and finally Verbatim’s Vx450 External SSD high-performance solid-state external data storage solution, ideal for back up and storing large data files such as HD video.
Verbatim executives will be available for media interviews at IFA Berlin 2014.
