MZ, a Grupo Attitude company, the world’s largest independent investor relations company and a leading consultancy on innovation in the financial communications market, announces the launch of ground-breaking strategic sustainability and risk management consulting services.
MZ has always seen sustainability as an essential part of organizational management, which aims to create value to the company and its stakeholders by managing risks and expanding the business’ competitive advantages. For this reason, MZ identified the need to further develop the services as well as create additional ones offered in the area of sustainability, so as to help its clients develop and implement a business strategy based on risk management and sustainability.
Sustainability should not be an activity that diverts the management from pursuing its goals; rather, it should be a differential factor incorporated into the company’s strategy, governance, identity and corporate culture. "Our consultancy is based on three complementary pillars: sustainability, risk management and excellence in performance. We are committed to maximizing the company’s ability to create value and achieve its goals," explained Vanessa Callau, MZ associate and leader of strategic sustainability and risk management consulting services.
Instead of being an isolated area that develops "green" or "social" initiatives merely to comply with legal, commercial or institutional marketing requirements, MZ believes that sustainability should be incorporated into the company’s strategic agenda, and into the everyday life of all its employees.
"Some companies have this outdated view that sustainability is to have a selective waste collection program or donate funds to a non-governmental organization that provides care for children or the elderly, aiming to be seen as a ‘good company’. But strategic sustainability consists of, for example, a beverage company assessing the risks and opportunities in its value chain and creating a reverse logistics and recycling program, ahead of government demands related to the disposal of end products and packaging, thus creating important competitive edge in relation to its competitors," remarked Márcio Veríssimo de Moraes, head of operations at MZ.
The strategic sustainability and risk management consulting projects will be led by Vanessa Callau, who has 13 years of expertise in organizational sustainability in large companies and consulting firms, having completed graduate programs in this field at the Harvard Extension School and FGV-SP, with projects awarded by the Financial Times and IFC.
"Attracting a professional with so much experience as Vanessa Callau to lead the sustainability management consultancy has been an important step taken by MZ, since Vanessa’s knowledge will complement our service portfolio in this area, making MZ a complete player in terms of sustainability, not only when it comes to operations and communications, but also to strategy and implementation," commented Fabiana Trebilcock, MZ partner and communications and sustainability manager.
