• Bomgar has received the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validation for its B200 and B300 appliances and version 13.1.3 software.
• The FIPS 140-2 validation is a requirement for cryptographic products which will be used in a U.S. government agency network.
Bomgar, the leader in enterprise remote support solutions, today announced it has been awarded a Level 2 Federal Information Processing Standards Publications (FIPS) 140-2 Validation: Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules for its B200 and B300 appliances and version 13.1.3 software. FIPS 140-2 validation is a requirement for cryptographic products which will be used in a U.S. government agency network. Bomgar is the only remote support solution to achieve FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validation, ensuring its customers’ data remains safe from the most sophisticated methods of intrusion.
“We are proud to have once again obtained FIPS validation for our remote support appliances and software,” said Scott Braynard, VP of Public Sector, Bomgar. “On a daily basis, government agencies handle highly confidential information that should never be at risk of falling into the wrong hands. In light of recent public network breaches, data and network security has become an even higher priority in the government sector. This validation further ensures Bomgar’s promise to provide our customers with the most secure and dependable remote support solution.”
The FIPS 140-2 standard is a joint effort by the National Institute of Standards Technology (NIST) in the United States, and the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC), under the Canadian government. The Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP), headed by NIST, provides module and algorithm testing for FIPS 140-2, which applies to Federal agencies using validated cryptographic modules to protect sensitive government data in computer and telecommunication systems. FIPS 140-2 was the main input document for developing ISO/IEC 19790 and is recognized worldwide as an important benchmark for third-party validations of encryption products of all kinds.
