San Francisco, CA, United States, 2014/03/26 - Inveneo’s Executive Director Bruce Baikie has been elected as a World Possible board member where he will focus on strategies to introduce World Possible's RACHEL (Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning) abroad - Inveneo.org.
Inveneo’s Executive Director Bruce Baikie has been elected as a board member for World Possible, a non-profit NGO focused on expanding free digital resources to communities around the world. Mr. Baikie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the World Possible team with an extensive career in engineering, ICT4D, and telecommunications.
He joins fellow board members Norberto Mujica (President), Joan Fuetsh, John Walker, Jeremy Schwartz, and Pranav Rastogi.
Bruce Baikie will focus on strategies to introduce World Possible’s RACHEL (Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning) into the least connected African and Oceania countries. RACHEL is a free and open source digital library content server for both health and educational resources without the need for an Internet connection. It’s ideal for educators in the developing world and has already been used by several thousand people in more than 26 countries. It can run on Raspberry PI, which is a very low cost ARM based computer, so it’s very affordable, low energy use, and easy to deploy.
