The Bears were in charge through out the session, holding the markets in the red zone. Trading volume was light to moderate and trading ranges held firmly for the Monday session. The North East is bracing itself for a major snow storm projected to take shape, Tuesday after slamming the Mid West. Time will tell how the storm will impact trading for day traders and investors over the next few days. At the end of the trading day, here is how the major indices ended the session: the DOW (Dow Jones Industrial Average) moved lower by 28.28 points to end the session at 12552.55; the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) moved lower by 33.33 points to end at 9258.32; the NASDAQ moved lower by 9.44 points to close at 2450.38; the S&P 500 moved lower by 4.69 points to end at 1433.37 and the RUSSELL 2000 moved lower by 1.31 points to close at 805.79. The FTSE All-World Index ex-US (top Large/Mid Cap aggregate from over 2,700 stocks from the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS) which covers 90% of the worlds investable market capitalization) moved lower by 1.37 to close at 242.29 and the FTSE RAFI 1000 moved lower by 18.66 points to close at 6033.92.

U.S. Government December Budget Surplus was revised to $41.96B from $44.54B and the U.S. Government posted $38.24 Billion total budget surplus in January U.S. Treasury Deputy Secretary Robert M. Kimmitt commented today before the American Chamber of Commerce in Frankfurt, Germany regarding the critical contribution that foreign direct investment makes to economic growth; that the 2007 U.S. Economy growth expected near 3%.

Interesting info on Cash: The amount of Cash in Circulation in the United States on June 30, 1910 was $3,148,700,000 or $34.07 Cash per Capita and amount of Cash in Circulation in the United States on June 30, 2000 $571,121,194,344 or $2,075.63 Cash per Capita.

On the commodities markets, the trend was mostly lower across the board today for the Energy sector: Light crude moved lower by $2.09 to close at $57.80 a barrel; Heating Oil closed lower today by $0.08 to end at $1.65 a gallon; Natural Gas moved lower by $0.56 to end the day at $7.27 per million BTU and Unleaded Gas closed lower by $0.06 today to end the session at $1.55 a gallon.

Metals Market ended the session lower across the board today: Gold moved lower by $5.00 to close at $667.30 an ounce; Silver closed lower today by $0.20 for a closing price of $13.72 an ounce; Platinum moved sharply lower today by $10.50 to close at $1,191.30 an ounce and Copper ended the day lower by $0.04 to close at $2.48 per pound.

On the Livestock and Meat Markets, the trend was higher across the board today: Lean Hogs closed higher by 0.75 to close at 67.60; Pork Bellies closed the day higher by 1.25 to close at 106.05; Live Cattle closed higher by 0.58 to end the day at 95.38 and Feeder Cattle ended the day higher by 0.68 to close at 96.45.

Other Commodities: Corn moved closed lower today by 1.25 points to end at 398.00 and Soybeans moved lower by 3.25 to close at 746.00.

The end of day results for the CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade) which is comprised of the total Exchange Volume for Futures and Options (EVFO) including Electronic, Open Auction and Cash Exchange ended the day at 3,672,949. Open Interest for Futures moved higher by 15,674 to close at 9,265,196 and the Open Interest for Options moved higher by 112,164 to close at 8,064,636 for a total Open Interest of 17,331,108 for a total gain on the day by 127,940.

Bonds were lower across the board again today: 2 year bond closed down 2/32 at 99 28/32; 5 year bond closed lower by 3/32 at 99 25/32; 10 year bond closed lower by 6/32 at 98 18/32 and the 30 year bond closed lower by 11/32 at 97 11/32.

The mini Dow ended the session with a gain today of 7 to close at 12591. The total Dow Exchange Volume for the day came in at 128,177 which are comprised of Electronic, Open Auction and Cash Exchange. Traders should review workshops available at the CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade) Educational in-person seminars schedules available on CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade) website.

New York Stock Exchange movers for the day: Chicago Mercantile Exchange Holdings (CME) plummeted by 9.25 points to close at $564.00; Intercontinental Exchange Incorporated (ICE) moved lower by 5.79 points to end at $143.57; Novelis Incorporated (NVL) made a nice gain of 5.13 points to close at $43.67; The Bear Stearns Companies Incorporated (BSC) moved lower by 2.43 points to end at $157.30 and Brush Engineered Material (BW) posted a very nice gain of 10.45 points to move higher by 33.32% to end at $41.81.

On the NASDAQ today, advancers came in at 1,325; decliners totaled 1,741; unchanged came in at 137; new highs came in at 313 and new lows came in at 35. Gainers and losers for the day on the NASDAQ: Zoltek Companies Incorporated (ZOLT) posted a gain of 2.68 points to end the session at $29.42; LCA-Vision Incorporated (LCAV) rallied higher by 7.45 points for a gain of 19.25% to close at $46.16; Adeza Biomedical Corporation (ADZA) rallied today for a gain of 8.25 points for a gain of 53.12% to close at $23.78; Hydril Company (HYDL) plowed higher by 12.18 points to end the day at $95.22 and Onyx Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (ONXX) posted a super gain today of 12.15 points to move higher by 99.10% for a closing price of $24.41.
