The Nevada Business Group on Health (NVBGH), a non-profit organization dedicated to representing over 70 Northern Nevada employers, and their employees, in all matters related to providing cost-effective health, health care and health insurance products and services, welcomes new Board Member, Virginia Peterson, PHR, Director of Human Resources at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno.
A human resources industry veteran of more than twenty years, in industries such as retail, manufacturing, legal and education, Peterson earned her Master of Human Resource Management degree from the Keller Graduate School of Management and also possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management. Additionally, she holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the Society for Human Resource Management.
“As representative of Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, I am pleased to serve on the NVBGH Board and have a hand in the important decisions made for our members,” Peterson said.
“With the help of skilled and seasoned human resources professionals like Virginia Peterson, NVBGH can better help its employer members address health, healthcare and health insurance issues for their employees,” says Executive Director and CEO Allen Meadows, MHA, FACHE. “We look forward to benefiting from her expertise and experience as NVBGH continues to grow and expand its services for businesses both big and small.”
Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, a business of approximately 1,800 employees, joined NVBGH in November, 2003. With the assistance of NVBGH, Atlantis offers its employees medical, dental and vision insurance, as well as voluntary supplemental plans such as short-term disability and critical accident coverage.
“Atlantis recognizes that by negotiating health plans as part of the NVBGH group rather than as a single employer, we enjoy more deeply discounted rates, while also benefiting from ongoing educational programs and resources, and the support of a network of local business people. Together, we can take on the challenge of ever-changing health care issues,” Peterson said.
NVBGH (nvbgh.org) was originally formed in 1995 as a partnership between large public employers and private employers to do group contracting with area hospitals and physicians.
