GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) today announced the appointment of John Carter as managing director of its AviaSolutions consulting business, which is expanding its services beyond airports to boost its work with airlines.
“Spurred by the growth of low-cost carriers over the last decade, we see many new opportunities for airports and airlines to work as partners instead of adversaries,” said Carter. “We’re now expanding our work with airports to the airlines, leveraging our 10-plus years of experience to help improve profitability and efficiency in today’s marketplace.”
Recent airline consulting projects include start-up business plans for two airlines consisting of 60 aircraft, a review of Hajj traffic demand, and a widebody aircraft study.
John Carter joined AviaSolutions in 2008 and has more than 20 years experience in the aviation industry. Previously, he worked for the British Airport Authority (BAA plc) in a variety of roles. There he handled the disposal of assets after the Ferrovial acquisition, devised retail sales and loyalty programs that increased sales by 30 percent, and managed several operational improvement programs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and business finance from Brunel University and a MBA from the University of Surrey.
AviaSolutions (aviasolutions.com), the independent consulting business of GECAS, has deep knowledge and experience in the air transport industry, helping airports and airlines improve their operations at every level of the business. Over the past five years, AviaSolutions has been involved in nearly every major airport transaction around the world on either the buy or sell side.
The AviaSolutions team includes experienced airline and airport professionals not career consultants -- that have hands-on experience with the day-to day issues facing airports and airlines alike, fused with top-tier strategic consultancy principles and detailed financial modelling expertise.
