Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, 2013/08/21 - SaskTel announced residents of Hodgeville, B-Say-Tah, Abernethy and Elk Ridge will now be able to enjoy the benefits of SaskTel High Speed Internet service - SaskTel.com.
This expansion is part of the long-term strategy to increase access to high speed Internet in rural Saskatchewan that was introduced at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities 2013 annual conference.
“Access to high speed Internet opens more opportunities to rural communities,” said Don McMorris, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “This will enhance the online experience for both private customers using the Internet for home entertainment and business customers doing work with customers at home or around the world.”
SaskTel and Elk Ridge partnered together under the Community Participation Model to make the expansion of high speed Internet feasible for the community. The program allows communities to raise funds to cover the shortfall when it is not economically feasible for SaskTel to finance new infrastructure for a community alone.
SaskTel’s rural strategy also includes $10.7 million allocated to expand the coverage and capacity of SaskTel’s 4G wireless network, which includes 31 new towers and 37 network enhancements. As well, SaskTel plans to introduce a new LTE fixed-wireless product to facilitate broadband access in rural locations that do not have other Internet options.
SaskTel High Speed Internet provides unlimited Internet access and downloading, faster speeds, spam and email virus filtering, around-the-clock helpdesk support and installations all for one low price.
