Delafield, WI, United States, 2013/07/29 - WI couple invents a unique and functional system while NOT sitting at a tailgate party! Looking to generate interest and excitement with kickstarter campaign - TheTakeASeat.com.
Local inventors of the Take-A-Seat™; a 3-in-1 bike rack, cargo carrier and bench seat, Pat & Vickie Rock, have launched a campaign on the grass-roots site, Kickstarter.
Kickstarter is a funding site for artistic and design projects; where creators submit videos and storylines about their ideas while explaining about funds needed and what they will do with the pledges. It is a timed, all or nothing approach and one that the Rock’s hope will pay off. The pledges come from anyone interested in seeing a project succeed and start as low as $1.
Take-A-Seat™ (thetakeaseat.com) originated in a parking lot at Miller Park when attending a pre-game tailgate party. After remembering everything except the chairs Pat had a thought occur to him what if there was a chair that extended out of a vehicle’s receiver hitch? That evening, a sketch was drawn out and idea was brought to life.
Understanding that additional functionality was needed to make the system worthwhile; the Rock’s got to work and designed a unique and versatile system. Not only did the unit have a bench seat, but when collapsed in different configurations, a cargo carrier and bike rack were able to be utilized without additional attachments. Take-A-Seat™ earned its patent in 2004 and was designed for use at sporting events, campgrounds, parades, bike trails and on road trips.
The sturdy steel frame is fitted with an interchangeable, comfortable canvas material that is available in Black, Royal Blue, Cardinal Red, Burgundy, Hunter Green, Blaze Orange or Real Tree™ camouflage. When not using the system, a travel cover is placed over the unit as it remains in your hitch. The backrest and travel cover lend themselves to unlimited branding opportunities.
Take-A-Seat™ has enjoyed some national recognition, as it’s placed in the Top 25 of the first season of ABC’s ‘American Inventor’, was named as the number one seating option in Stephen Linn’s ‘Fox Sports Tailgating Handbook’, has been featured in Men’s Health magazine and was on CBS’ ‘The Price Is Right’.
With funding, the Rock’s are looking to manufacture systems, attend SEMA (a premier automotive specialty products tradeshow), obtain licensing for NCAA merchandise and work on additional accessories.
