Taipei, Taipei City, Taiwan, 2013/05/03 - Taiwan Mobile Innovation (TMI) recently launched its Hardware Acceleration Program (HAP), a business incubator for innovative mobile and internet-related hardware startups - TMI.vc.
Based in Taipei, Taiwan, the heart of IT ODM services, TMI's team of experts connects startups with experienced manufacturers, helps them resell their products in Asia and access to capital through local VCs, seed capital or pre-A funding.
Peter Liu from WI Harper Group, one of the firms that support this program, emphasized that "The goal of the Hardware Acceleration Program is to assist early-stage hardware innovation projects throughout the different steps of the business creation from prototype to mass production." He also added that the program is mainly focused on linking startups with experienced manufacturers in order to make high quality and competitive products.
One important feature about this program is that it is free of cost for eligible projects for TMI does not seek profit from it. Instead, the business incubator aims to discover new investment opportunities. "Through this program we expect to not only find some original and revolutionary projects to help them succeed in the market, but to also become angel investors.", said Herb Lin, TMI's Board Director from the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan (ITRI).
TMI (tmi.vc) was founded in 2012 by the US venture firm WI Harper Group, Kaifu Lee head of Innovation Works and ITRI.
The company has built a professional team Logistica Asia to execute the Hardware Acceleration Program. All team members have broad experience in working with ODMs and have served several reputable hardware customers such as Samsung, Gigabyte, Dell, Asus, Nokia and Intel among others.
