This expansion clearly indicates Optovacís commitment to establishing itself as a leading supplier to the Brazilian aerospace and defense industry.

Optovac Mec‚nica e OptoeletrŰnica Ltda, acquired by Sagem in 2012, handles the marketing, production and support of Sagemís product range for its customers in Brazil.

Optovac will also develop its own local solutions meeting the requirements of the Brazilian armed forces, and will encourage research initiatives with Brazilian universities. An innovative small business, it has all the assets needed to earn a government label as a Strategic Defense Enterprise.

Participating in the LAAD Defense and Security International Exhibition for the first time on the Safran stand, Optovac will showcase its ability to meet the requirements of police and special forces, in the run-up to the two major international events scheduled for Brazil in the near future the Summer Olympics and Football World Cup.

Optovac offers a wide selection of solutions for these and other applications, including a complete range of portable optronic equipment, the TEOS optronic surveillance system, and navigation systems for land and naval applications. The company will also spotlight Sagemís avionics expertise, particularly for autopilots and attitude and heading reference systems (AHRS).

Sagem already contributes to several programs in Brazil, including the flight controls and navigation systems for Eurocopterís Caracal helicopters, and optronic masts for the four ScorpŤne class submarines produced by DCNS. Sagem also makes the flight controls for all Eurocopter helicopters operating in Brazil, and was selected by Embraer to develop the horizontal trim compensator for the upcoming KC-390 military transport.

Sagem (sagem-ds.com), a high-tech company of Safran, holds world or European leadership positions in optronics, avionics, electronics and safety-critical software for both civil and military markets. Sagem is the No. 1 company in Europe and No. 3 worldwide for inertial navigation systems (INS) used in air, land and naval applications. It is also the world leader in helicopter flight controls and the European leader in optronics and tactical UAV systems. Operating across the globe through the Safran group, Sagem and its subsidiaries employ 7,500 people in Europe, Southeast Asia and North America. Sagem is the commercial name of the company Sagem Dťfense Sťcuritť.
