Daniel Snediker, MD, FACEP, FAAEM is the ED Medical Director. He is actively involved with numerous hospital committees focused on utilization and hospital census development. When asked why the Brookhaven ED is so successful, Dr. Snediker replied,“The reason that Brookhaven is successful is that everyone in the department works together to overcome obstacles. For every issue, we collaborate to come up with the best solution for everyone.”
Dr. Snediker added,“To the entire ED staff, thank you for making our department a wonderful place for our patients to receive care and a wonderful place to work.”
Opening its doors in 1956, Brookhaven today has 71,000 annual visits. It is a 306-bed acute-care, not-for-profit hospital which offers leading edge healthcare solutions in technologically advanced facilities. However, staff maintains the core values of compassion and integrity.
The Medical Center’s specialties include a certified Level II Trauma Center, an expanded Hemodialysis Program, Home Health and Hospice/Bereavement Services, and a Women’s Imaging Center.
Among featured accomplishments at the facility, the ED developed a comprehensive procedure for the management of severe sepsis. The goals of the procedure are early identification and aggressive, evidenced-based treatment of sepsis. Development of this procedure has laid the groundwork for creating standardized, evidenced-based care plans for other diagnoses and ensures the highest level of care for patients.
