UHY Advisors eDiscovery and Digital Forensics Practice Group today announced the third-generation release of Tristan, a remote electronic data collection kit designed to easily gather electronic data from desktop and laptop computers, no matter where they may be located. The new release now includes added security through AES-256 encryption and an enhanced user interface for streamlined deployment by even the most general computer users.
“Electronic data collection can become one of the most logistically complex and time consuming parts of a discovery project, particularly when information is located in remote or international locations that may be difficult to access without costly travel expenses,” said Doug Herman, managing director, UHY Advisors FLVS, Inc. “With Tristan, data on any remote computer can be easily and defensibly collected for secure delivery to the electronic discovery review location, saving up to 70% compared to traditional on-site collection practices.”
The patent-pending Tristan remote electronic data collection kit is comprised of an external USB hard drive which is pre-loaded with executable software that will easily and defensible collect data from any storage media it has been connected to. The kit includes step-by-step instructions that can be easily operated by anyone at the remote location. Once the collection is complete, the drive including the collected data and chain-of-custody materials can be returned using the included secure return envelope.
Tristan is an ideal secure collection solution for international investigations, collections that must be performed in geographically diverse locations, and domestic litigation. It has also been used to perform data preservation during corporate divestitures or layoffs where there is risk of employee data tampering prior to termination.
Tristan has been a remote collection solution used by thousands of national and international investigations, including discovery projects related to the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the U.S. Commodity Futures trading Commission. Tristan collection has been performed in more than 32 countries.
Third-generation Tristan kits are available now and are priced per imaged hard drive.
