Cengage Learning, a leading educational content, software and services company for the academic, professional and library markets, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Indiana University (IU) as part of the IU eTexts Initiative. As part of the agreement, Cengage Learning will deliver eTextbooks, digital materials and online service offerings to students at all IU campuses.
“IU is delighted to partner with Cengage Learning as Cengage’s materials are among the most sought-after course materials chosen by IU faculty,” said Brad Wheeler, IU vice president for information technology and chief information officer. “These partnerships with innovative publishers are paving the way to digital course materials and reducing the costs of higher education.”
IU’s eTexts initiative (etexts.iu.edu) focuses on delivering eTexts to students at a reduced cost, while providing faculty with new tools for teaching and learning. Along with digital materials, IU students and faculty will benefit from Cengage Learning’s Engagement Services, a portfolio of services including digital course support and faculty development, designed to enhance learner engagement and improve outcomes.
“Indiana University is at the forefront of new delivery models and we are very pleased to work more closely with them through their eTexts Initiative,” said Pam Snow, senior vice president and director of strategic partnerships, Cengage Learning. “At Cengage Learning, we are committed to delivering solutions and services that increase student engagement and better support classroom instruction, and this agreement with Indiana University opens the door to making meaningful materials even more accessible.”
Cengage Learning materials will begin to be available as eTexts at IU in the Summer of 2013.
