Bolingbrook, IL, United States, 2013/02/16 - The Law Enforcement Wireless Village’s (LEWV) iPatrol™ smart phone and tablet application is now available for download from the App Store℠ - LEWV.us.
The iPatrol™ Cloud solution, allows both large and small agencies to make Criminal Justice Information Service (CJIS) queries from their iPhones and iPads without the cost of additional hardware or software. This translates to no server hardware onsite required at an agency, no implementation project to manage, no access to the agency’s internal network and no hidden costs.
The goal of the Law Enforcement Wireless Village (LEWV), Cloud solution is to make CJIS access affordable for law enforcement. iPatrol™ is offered for a low monthly service charge of $20.95 per user which allows unlimited CJIS queries. To be capable of using LEWV, an agency is first approved by their CJIS Systems Agency (CSA).
Kyle Dart from Sebastian County, Arkansas states "We are more than impressed with the functionality of the iPatroltm product. This is going to revolutionize our department as we migrate from laptops to low cost smart phones and tablets." The iPatrol™ application for the iPhone and iPad solution is FIPS 140-2 encryption validated and has FBI approved multiple factor authentication before allowing a user to gain CJIS access.
Flippin Police Department in Arkansas, one of the first agencies to download and run the iPatrol™ release available from the Apple Store, is using it extensively to run CJIS queries. Sergeant Dustin Carter from Flippin PD runs iPatrol™ from his iPad and reports that “iPatrol™ is fast, efficient, and portable. Anyone in law enforcement will know that when you need vital information, you need it fast, especially when you are in the field. iPatrol™ goes above and beyond and I would recommend it to any agency large or small."
iPatrol™ is currently available for law enforcement agencies in 9 states (Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Rhode Island). iPatrol™ users are required to be CJIS trained and certified by their state CSA. iPatrol™’s Cloud service will soon be available in several additional states.
"This product without any doubt is essential for any officer assigned to foot-patrol, motorcycle, bike patrol and for plain clothes; vice, narcotics and or special investigators not having access to bulky laptop computers and not being able to call a dispatch center." Christopher S. Paquette, Police Prosecutor, Tilton PD, New Hampshire.
