Agfa HealthCare announces today that it has successfully implemented two DX-D 600 Direct Radiography (DR) systems at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, creating two new DR rooms at the hospital. The new rooms are part of a project that will also see Agfa HealthCare installing ten CR 30-X and three DX-G solutions across the Trust. Royal Cornwall Hospitals issued a competitive Computed Radiography (CR) tender in 2012, asking suppliers to present alternative proposals to support their imaging strategy.
DX-D 600 DR system: versatility, automation and increased throughput
The versatile, ceiling-suspended DX-D 600 system is Agfa HealthCare's top-of-the-line direct digital X-ray room, ideal for facilities such as Royal Cornwall Hospitals that have a high patient load and are looking to streamline workflow and increase throughput. The DX-D 600 system offers a complete portfolio of fully-motorised, semi-automatic and manual configurations. The fully-automatic system offers the latest in state-of-the-art auto-positioning technology.
The DX-D 600 system is equipped with dual Cesium Iodide DR detectors in the wall stand and table, with optional integrated CR as well.
In addition to the productivity gains, Royal Cornwall Hospitals were impressed by the high image quality delivered by MUSICA², which lies at the heart of Agfa HealthCare's CR and DR solutions. MUSICA² software provides body-part independent, intelligent and automated digital imaging processing for consistently reliable, high-quality image visualisation.
High image quality and a more productive workflow end-to-end
The DX-G solutions support both standard phosphor plates and needle-based detectors. Their small, convenient footprint, state-of-the-art image quality and multi-cassette drop-and-go buffer provide a smoother, more productive workflow and make them ideal for a broad range of applications. The CR 30-X solutions comprise compact, tabletop systems for CR where space is limited or in mobile environments.
Emma Spouse, Diagnostics Lead (Imaging & Pathology), Royal Cornwall Hospitals, comments: "We are really pleased with the project. The two new DR rooms not only look fantastic - which is important for the patient experience - but our radiologists are very impressed by the image quality, and the productivity and workflow improvement. The versatility and ease of use of the DX-D 600 DR system means that the units can be quickly positioned for any examination, in any situation by our imaging staff. In addition, the immediate availability of high-quality images speeds up our workflow and reduces patient waiting times, which is key to providing an efficient imaging service."
Emma Spouse adds: "Maximum utilisation of space throughout Royal Cornwall Hospitals is a key part of our development strategy, so that we can increase our accident & emergency capacity to meet demand. The commissioning of the two new DR rooms has also freed up vital space around the hospital that can be re-utilised."
Grant Witheridge, General Manager of Agfa HealthCare UK, comments: "We are delighted that Royal Cornwall Hospitals have chosen Agfa HealthCare (agfa.com) for their CR and DR solutions. This demonstrates the capabilities of our product range to meet the specific imaging requirements of the Trust, making maximum use of their real estate and improving workflow, benefiting both healthcare professionals and patients."
