The HP Reporter Capture Pack is an additional way of importing data into Metron’s athene® Capacity Management Information Store (CMIS), and is one of the library of Capture Packs connectors provided and supported by Metron.
HP Reporter collects enterprise-wide data from various HP Operations Center software components and stores the data into a central HP Reporter repository. The athene® Capture Pack then takes this data and adds value to the data management and reporting functionality provided by HP Reporter.
The HP Reporter Capture Pack is architected to gather data for Windows and Unix/Linux. The user can monitor these servers within an enterprise, viewing metrics related to CPU, memory and disk I/O. Capacity Management teams can report daily, weekly, monthly or at whatever time frame is appropriate, showing thresholds and trends and model future requirements.
Andrew Smith, CSMO Metron commented ‘The addition of the HP Reporter Capture Pack to our range means that organizations can incorporate HP Reporter data to forecast infrastructure requirements as the business needs change.’
Data from HP Reporter is gathered by the Capture Pack and stored in athene®’s CMIS, providing an organization with the metrics necessary for effective capacity management all in one place. Value is added to investment in HP Reporter by enabling viewing and use of HP Reporter metrics alongside all other HP or non-HP enterprise and business data. Users can correlate any of this data to understand how infrastructure monitored by HP Reporter interacts with other infrastructure.
Andrew Smith added ‘Collating HP Reporter data with all other capacity data is another example of Metron’s 360⁰ Capacity Management strategy in practice. It enables quick and easy understanding of cause and effect of performance issues that would otherwise be missed when only looking at subsets of capacity data. The HP Reporter Capture Pack will help organizations meet their performance and capacity challenges, allowing them to bring HP Reporter data in to their Capacity Management mix.”
360°Capacity Management from Metron, looking at performance and capacity challenges from all possible angles, gives organizations the ability to properly meet their service level agreements and capacity management’s mission of providing adequate capacity at controlled costs, both now and in the future.
Metron have announced a number of new Capture Packs in recent months and further announcements will be coming in the near future.
