Former Business Journalist Trevor Jones Joins as Senior Vice President
FTI Consulting, Inc., the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organisations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced the appointments of investor relations veteran Nerina Bodasing as Managing Director and former business journalist Trevor Jones as Senior Vice President in its Strategic Communications practice in South Africa.
Both based in Johannesburg, Bodasing joins FTI Consulting South Africa’s financial communications and investor relations team, counselling executive teams, boards of directors and other key decision makers on how to effectively maximise global and local investor outreach programmes, based on in-depth industry knowledge and experience. With decades of experience as both a journalist and later a trusted advisor to top CEOs, Jones will help lead the corporate communications practice, counselling FTI Consulting clients on how to use communications and marketing assets to help build brands and businesses.
“Building our financial communications and investor relations capabilities in South Africa is a critical component to rounding out our comprehensive and integrated global offering,” said Edward Reilly, Global Chief Executive Officer of the Strategic Communications practice at FTI Consulting. “I’m delighted to have Nerina and Trevor on board.”
The appointments follow a series of moves taken by FTI Consulting over the past two years to expand its reach and presence across Africa, including the appointment of Lord Malloch-Brown, a former Minister of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the British government with responsibility for Africa, as Chairman of FTI Consulting EMEA.
Dani Cohen, Head of FTI Consulting South Africa, said: “Nerina and Trevor join us at an exciting time and will deepen our bench of senior advisors. Nerina is widely regarded as one of the top investor relations experts in the country and enjoys deep relationships with leading CEOs and board members. Trevor brings enormous experience and talent to our corporate communications group and will be able to provide unique insight and advice to clients looking to navigate key growth markets in South Africa and the rest of the Continent.”
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Bodasing worked as Head of Investor Relations at JSE-listed company Gold Fields (GFI), one of the world’s largest gold miners; global energy and chemical giant Sasol; and Absa Group, one of Africa’s largest banks.
During her time at Gold Fields, Bodasing was involved in the listing of GFI on the Dubai stock exchange as well as various mergers and acquisition work including the successful completion of a USD 1.4 billion capital raising, at the time one of the largest by a South African miner.
Former Business Day Deputy Chief Sub-editor Jones joins FTI Consulting from Magna Carta, where he advised a number of leading South African companies, including Standard Bank and the South African National Roads Agency.
Jones has extensive corporate and agency experience as a leading corporate communications specialist. He worked at global communications firm Ogilvy & Mather as a Managing Partner and prior to that was a Sub-editor at SABC Television and Good Morning South Africa.
FTI Consulting has more than 30 employees in offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa.
