Amsterdam, North-Holland, Netherlands, 2012/11/28 - TAUS, the translation innovation think tank and platform for industry-shared services, announces the launch of a wiki site for best practices in collaborative translation - TranslationAutomation.com.
Collaborative translation presents us with a rich and complex envelope of processes and technologies, whose respective impacts are still poorly understood. Determining which approach can be used in which context and to what effect is still somewhat of an art, and currently, trial and error is often the only way to find out.
On the Collaborative Translation Patterns site visitors find a list of best practices, which have been written by seasoned practitioners of collaborative translation. Each practice is captured in the form of a short, modular design pattern, so that users can easily cherry pick those that are most appropriate for their situation.
"We hope that this site will continue to grow and be improved, as people learn more and more about good ways to implement collaborative translation applications that work and are acceptable to all parties involved,” said Alain Désilets, research officer, National Research Council of Canada and the facilitator of Collaborative translation site.
This initiative originated at the TAUS Roundtable on Collaborative Translation, which was held at Localization World in Santa Clara, in October of 2011.
“Collaborative translation is a democratizing for our industry. I am extremely pleased that we are able to support this important resource enabling people to share knowledge, learn from each other, and make more informed decisions when defining and rolling out their translation strategies,” said Jaap van der Meer, director of TAUS.
The site is open to contributors of the new practices and feedback on the existing practices.
TAUS (collaborative-translation-patterns.com) is an innovation think tank and interoperability watchdog for the translation industry.
TAUS supports entrepreneurs and principals in the translation industry to share and define new strategies through a comprehensive range of events, publications and knowledge tools.
