Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, 2012/10/22 - SaskTel confirmed they have partnered with EnStream and will exclusively utilize their Secure Element Management (SEM) technology platform.
SaskTel today confirmed they have partnered with EnStream and will exclusively utilize their Secure Element Management (SEM) technology platform in order to enable customers to access a variety of new and exciting mobile commerce applications, from the smartphone right in their back pocket.
“We partnered with EnStream because we want to continue to be an industry leader in offering cutting edge technology and because we see the ways customers and businesses could use this type of service as endless,” said Stacey Sandison, SaskTel’s Chief Marketing Officer. “The possibilities are not just limited to having your debit or credit card accessible from your mobile; essentially this service could lead to the digitalization of your entire wallet, so in the future you can use your device to pay your bus fare, check out a library book, or even scan your way into work. The infinite potential is what makes us so excited to have a commercial launch planned for 2013.”
Working with EnStream, SaskTel will be able to support the delivery and management of credentials on secure element (SE) enabled SIM cards. The SE is a protected confidential environment on the SIM card where personal and financial information is stored. Customers with devices that support SE enabled SIM cards can download applications from participating businesses using EnStream’s services, and as these applications utilize the existing banking payment system in place today, they can be assured that the transaction is as secure as their existing card based payment options.
EnStream is a mobile commerce joint venture owned by Bell, Rogers, and Telus. Their mandate is to develop standardized, secure and easy-to-use mobile payment capabilities that work with existing credit, debit and prepaid capabilities offered by financial institutions and across all wireless carriers.
