Vidyo, Inc., the world’s fastest-growing video conferencing company, today announced the winners of its first Vidyo Excellence Awards. Winners were selected from software development teams that utilized Vidyo’s rich set of APIs and demonstrated how their solutions made video communications an integral part of a business workflow. The awards recognized innovation and leadership in three application areas: healthcare, customer service and resource scheduling. In each winning application, Vidyo’s APIs were embedded within the developer’s solution, making a significant contribution to innovation and improvement within the developers’ respective industries.
Vidyo Developer Program and APIs
Vidyo’s rich set of APIs enable developers to integrate video communications within their applications to make it a natural part of the business workflow. The APIs provide access control including authentication with external systems, client customization to enable business process applications, recording control and management, and back-end automation for meeting control and provisioning.
The Vidyo platform and APIs have allowed developers from a wide variety of market sectors — including enterprise, healthcare, manufacturing, education, and government — to expand into new markets by creating innovative use cases that were previously unattainable through legacy video conferencing solutions due to cost, performance, the need for specialized networks, and limited device options.
“Vidyo’s rich APIs support the creation and growth of new markets and enable partners to create applications that support everyday business processes and address business looking to improve productivity,” said Ashish Gupta, Vidyo’s CMO and SVP of Corporate Development. “Vidyo’s developer program supports teams that are building the next generation of visual collaboration solutions and want to use the best video communication technology. These applications can be easily deployed on-premise or via a service delivery model available from one of our service providers or “white label” service partners.”
Vidyo Excellence Award Winners
HealthSpot earned the Vidyo Excellence Award for Healthcare for its Care4 Station, a walk-in kiosk with integrated medical devices that connects patients to healthcare providers over real-time, high-definition videoconference appointments. “HealthSpot selected Vidyo as its exclusive video conferencing platform based upon Vidyo’s media-aware, intelligent routing architecture that enables access to high quality video communications via a wide range of devices and networks,” said Dave Sebenoler, HealthSpot’s Chief Information Officer. “This visual communications technology, in concert with Vidyo’s enterprise-ready APIs, has allowed HealthSpot to create an industry leading self-service kiosk solution. The APIs allow HealthSpot to run advanced technology ‘under the hood’ while providing an intuitive user experience that distills many complex processes into a seamless patient experience.”

The Vidyo Excellence Award for Resource Scheduling was earned by Soltrite for See-Speak . Soltrite created an on-demand language interpretation solution customized for each client organization that may choose the languages they want to offer as well as a variety of routing choices to select the interpreter that best meets their needs. “We have essentially created a ‘Vidyo ACD’ product and an integration that can be molded to different client requirement situations,” said Scott Colesworthy, Soltrite’s CEO. “Vidyo allows quality over uncontrolled networks to a variety of devices enabling client locations to use non-QoS enhanced networks to lower bandwidth cost and allow the interpreters to be located in their homes.”
The Vidyo Difference
The Vidyo communication and collaboration platform is software-based, highly flexible and can be easily customized for individual enterprise and vertical market video conferencing requirements. The patented VidyoRouter™ architecture introduces Adaptive Video Layering™, which dynamically optimizes the video for each endpoint leveraging H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC)-based compression technology and Vidyo’s IP. Adaptive Video Layering eliminates the MCU and offers unprecedented error resiliency, low latency rate matching thus enabling natural, affordable, high-quality video to work over the Internet, LTE and 4G networks. The platform allows users to quickly leverage the latest hardware innovations and new consumer devices, making it uniquely attractive to partners. Vidyo has been active driving H.264 SVC and SIP videoconferencing interoperability in various standards bodies since 2005.
