Cobham, Surrey, United Kingdom, 2012/09/17 - The metrology company cooperates closely with one of the seven public Universities for Applied Sciences in Switzerland - HexagonMetrology.com. Nordic Exchange: HEXA B
Hexagon Metrology Switzerland networks with the Technology & Architecture Department of Lucerne University. The objective and scope of the cooperation were contractually defined by the partners at the end of August 2012. As part of the cooperation, Hexagon Metrology equipped the measuring laboratory of the university with stationary and portable measuring machines which are used for the training of mechanical engineering students.
The cooperation between the company and the university is of benefit for both parties: Hexagon Metrology now has an additional demonstration centre in central Switzerland as well as those in Crissier and Aarau-West. Furthermore, with the measuring laboratory at the university campus, Hexagon Metrology moves closer to customers in the Lucerne region. "We feel strongly that universities and science must cooperate more closely. In this way we cultivate our own potential staff of the future, we can exchange valuable contacts and can benefit from development work at the university" says Stefan Gugelmann, Managing Director of Hexagon Metrology Switzerland. In future Hexagon Metrology will also receive engineering and software programming services, as well as measuring services, from Lucerne University.
Lucerne University is also happy with the contractual arrangement: "In order to provide the best possible teaching for our students, we have to keep our infrastructure always up to date. With Hexagon Metrology we have now found a partner who provides excellent support in the subject of 3D coordinate metrology", says Prof. Dr. René Hüsler, Director of the Department for Technology & Architecture at Lucerne University. "As part of the cooperation, we are also able to refer our graduates directly to Hexagon Metrology."
Lucerne University is now the proud owner of a stationary 3D coordinate measuring machine of the DEA GLOBAL Silver Advantage series and an Optiv Classic 321 GL tp multi-sensor measuring machine. Both measuring machines are equipped with the PC-DMIS measuring software and have the benefit of the PC-DMIS CAD++ Offline licence. This allows students to carry out measuring programming at an independent computer. In addition, the metrology company provides the university with a number of portable measuring machines for special projects.
