The Finmeccanica booth (#601) will present key programs in the groupís aerospace and helicopter sectors from companies AgustaWestland North America and Alenia Aermacchi North America.
The stand will feature AgustaWestlandís AW101 Combat Rescue Helicopter cabin display as well as Alenia Aermacchi North Americaís T-100 Ground Based Training System Demonstrator.
AgustaWestlandís AW101 combines the most advanced technologies, mission systems and manufacturing expertise with a proven aircraft design. With a range of over 750 nm and a cabin capable of carrying more than 25 fully equipped troops or over five tons of cargo and equipment, the AW101 has the capability to perform the most demanding long-range missions without the need for auxiliary fuel tanks in the cabin. Its large cabin with a large ramp, side sliding door, and stand-up headroom enables maximum flexibility and is suited for combat missions. The AW101ís excellent safety features and incorporation of the latest in vibration reduction technology makes it capable of serving in a multitude of roles. Over 180 AW101 helicopters have been ordered by customers around the world to perform a wide range of government, public service and military missions. The AW101 has logged over 275,000 flight hours in service in Italy, UK, Denmark, Portugal, Japan and Canada while delivering exceptional performance. The AW101 is currently in service in a combat rescue role in Afghanistan.
Alenia Aermacchi North Americaís T-100 Integrated Training System (ITS) is the most advanced and comprehensive 4thand 5th generation flying training system available on the market today. It builds upon the proven technology, systems and international success of Alenia Aermacchiís M-346, and utilizes a fully developed and mature ground based training system. Incorporating state-of-the- art U.S. technology, the T-100 ITS is the ideal system to replace the U.S. Air Forceís current fleet of aging T-38 Advanced Jet Trainers.
The T-100 Ground Based Training System Demonstrator will be on display at the booth as well as the VSI JHMCS II Helmet Mounted Display currently flown in the Italian Air Forceís T-346A (U.S. T-100).
Alenia Aermacchi North America will also feature the C-27J Spartan. The C-27J is the perfect fixed-wing, multipurpose cargo aircraft for todayís diverse missions. To date, 12 aircraft have been delivered to the U.S. Air Force. The U.S. and Italian Air Forces have validated the C-27Jís exceptional performance through multiple deployments to Afghanistan. Most recently, the U.S. Air Force operated two C-27Js for 11 months, completing over 3,200 missions, and delivering 1,400 tons of cargo and 25,000 passengers under austere combat conditions.
