Almost 120,000 new renewable energy capacity for electricity generation has been installed in 2011. All in front was wind power with around 42,000 MW, followed by hydropower 33,000 MW and Photovoltaic with 28,000 MW.
This is one of many results of the newest update of the data bank REMIPEG (Renewable Energy Market Installed Power and Electricity Generation), which has been developed and is yearly updated by the renewable team of Lahmeyer International.
The data bank documents per renewable energy technology (hydropower, wind, photovoltaic, solar thermal power, biomass, wave, tidal & ocean energy and geothermal energy) world-wide and on a country level the status of renewable energies with regard to installed power and annual electricity generation. Once again in this year the newest results of such world-wide overview has been published in a comprehensive publication in the July/August version of the magazine Renewable Energy Focus.
Within such report Lahmeyer experts bring in their experience and know-how about technologies, markets and discuss about possible future developments. By this means, hands-on expertise gained in numerous projects around the globe is combined with statistical available data and presented comprehensively – for many players on the market an important information source for their decisions in the sector.
